Awards Summary

Member of the Year is presented to a WasteCap member that has demonstrated loyal support for WasteCap Nebraska through participation in events, volunteering time, treasure or talent, and by taking advantage of WasteCap member services.  The award winner may be an employee of a member company or an individual member.

Recycler of the Year is presented to a service provider that has shown innovation in making recycling more accessible to end-users and in developing new markets for previously hard-to-recycle materials.  The recipient  employs the highest possible standards for responsible materials handling.

Sustainable Business of the Year Award is presented to a business or organization with an active Green Team, and incorporates holistic, sustainable business practices supporting innovation in Management, Purchasing, Energy, Waste, Facilities, Employees, Customers, Community and/or Transportation.

Green Team of the Year Award recognizes a highly-organized, mature green team with the capacity to sustain itself and engage employees.  The team will have implemented systems to identify impacts, set goals, prioritize and implement projects, measure performance and review their process.

Commonwealth Award recognizes a business or organization that gives its time, talent, and treasure to the community in which it operates in order to improve the natural environment, or health, welfare and common good of all stakeholders.

Best Place to Work Award recognizes a business or organization that has implemented strong employee benefit programs (e.g. health and wellness benefits, commuter benefit programs and etc.), and/or has significantly engaged employees in their sustainable programs.

 Zero Waste Award recognizes a business or organization that has made significant strides to reduce inputs, reduce waste, recycle and/or reuse by-products, and strives for a closed loop system in materials handling.  The award winner subscribes to Zero Waste International Alliance definition* of zero waste.

The application for any of these awards must be completed before August 15th!
