Projects
Do you have a Green Team at your business? Do you need assistance starting one, or taking the next steps? Join this peer-to-peer learning network to learn best practices and tips from knowledgable speakers and from your peers in the field. Each meeting begins with networking, introductions and a “circle” question. A presentation follows by a speaker or WasteCap staff. Finally, the host gives a presentation and/or tour.
Meetings are held over the lunch hour (11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) Online registration is required. Lunch is $10. Meals are locally-sourced and zero waste.
Omaha Green Team Roundtables fall on odd months, Lincoln’s are on even months, and there is a meeting scheduled in greater Nebraska each month. To learn more about attending or hosting a Green Team Roundtable at your business, contact Julie Diegel, [email protected] or call 402-436-2384 x1001.
Strive Towards Sustainability Workshops
The Strive Towards Sustainability (STS) Program is a tool created by the Sustainable Business Council (SBC) of Missoula, MT and adopted by WasteCap Nebraska to be introduced to Nebraska businesses through half-day workshops starting in January 2013.
The Program’s objective is to provide educational assistance, recognize achievements, and create a network of businesses that are on a sustainable path. It includes a business plan built upon equitable labor practices, ethical profits, and responsible use of natural resources. It will provide education for communities and serve as a robust marketing tool for businesses as they begin to move towards true sustainability.

Waste Assessments
Recycling is one of the “low-hanging fruits” in any beginning sustainability program, and the most widely used method for reducing the volume of waste sent to the landfill. WasteCap professional staff provides a nonregulatory analysis of the volume and composition of waste produced by your business. A follow-up report outlines materials volumes, suggests waste management options, and recommends local recycling service providers for taking concrete steps toward waste management. This service is included in all WasteCap business memberships. Click here to view a sample waste assessment.
